Few mensen are aware that whales are hunted in the North Sea, not all that far from the Netherlands. Should the Norwegian hunters get the opportunity, they hunt the minke whale. Seals are hunted in Scotland. They feel that the seals steal fish from the salmon fish farms. In the rest of the rest of the North Sea region, the hunters leave the seals alone. However, now that the seal population is doing well, there are pleas to take up guns again...

  • On land

    On land, for example in the dunes, those with a license are allowed to hunt species which are exempted according to the Flora and Fauna Act. That includes rabbits, hares, mallard ducks and pheasants. Hunters often shoot geese for management purposes. They want to reduce the number of geese or chase them out of an area.
