Nature development

Nature development is creating situations whereby the desired natural development can begin. Heavy machines are often used for nature development and sometimes in the beginning it looks more like the nature area is being totally destroyed. Just the opposite is true; usually, the most valuable nature is created within 1 to 2 years after intervention. Several nature development projects in the Wadden, coastal and delta regions are: cutting through the coastal dike between Bergen and Schoorl, the construction of dune creeks in De Klip, the making of wet dune valleys and 'swampish' situations, allowing drift dunes freedom to drift on Terschelling, converting bulb fields to nature and a complex of regulations on Neeltje Jans.
