Mowing (and removal)

Mowing is an alternative management of vegetation to grazing. By mowing, one is opposing succession. Since the cuttings are removed, the nutrients phosphate, nitrogen and potassium are also removed. Only nitrogen escapes in a terrain that is primarily grazed. Therefore, by mowing and removal, a poorer environment is formed than by grazing. Mowing is possible in terrains with heath and brushwood and on lands with grass and reed.
