Sandpipers
You're very likely to spot sandpipers along the coast. They scramble along the tide line, picking small animals out of the sand or mud. Their various bill lengths allow each of them to specialize in their own food so that underlying competition hardly exists.
On Texel
The red knot, dunlin and sanderling come to Texel during bird migration or even stay the entire winter. You may also see the little stint, curlew sandpiper and purple sandpiper during migration on the island, but in much fewer numbers. These species of sandpipers are vagrants. You will need some luck to see them on Texel.
