Emerald damselfly

The emerald damselfly has a bronze-green color. The female has red-green eyes. Males have a blue frosting on the wings. There is a dark oval spot on the wings. The animal rests with the wings half open. It flies around in June till October. This damselfly is found on all of the Wadden Islands, the dunes between Callantsoog and Den Helder and between Den Haag and Voorne.

  • Distribution and habitat

The emerald damselfly is often found in stationary water, such as ditches and acidic heather pools, as well as among bank vegetation by lakes. Tandems of the emerald damselfly are found in sea club-rush vegetation on the Noordsvaarder on Terschelling.
