Sea thong

Sea thong is a brown seaweed that does not grow in Dutch waters. However, broken off pieces regularly wash ashore, having been carried by the current from the English Channel or Atlantic coast. It has long greenish brown streamers that grow up to two or three meters long. These streamers join together at a 'foot' that fastens itself to a stone or shell. This foot is the actual sea thong. The streamers are the reproductive organs. Sea thong is often overgrown with all kinds of small seaweed and marine animals that are not found along the Dutch coast.
