Ferns

Ferns have leaves just like all flowering plants, however just like with seaweeds, they are called fronds. They reproduce via spores, so they have no flowers and no seeds. While most people equate ferns with damp shady areas, they can be found in extreme climates as well: from dry desert rock formations to open fields and mountain tops. Ferns are specialists in living in such marginal habitats, where most other plants are unable to grow. There are three species in particular specific to the coastal zone: adder's tongue, moonwort and common polypody.
