Red bartsia
Red bartsia is a half-parasite growing in damp, grassy areas, where it uses the roots of the various grasses for nutrients and water. It only germinates in the spring, reaching its peak blossom at the end of the summer. This plant grows in more nutrient-rich and compact soils than other broomrape species. It is also tolerant to some salt. You'll even find red bartsia prospering in gull colonies and on green beaches!
