Pea Family

You are more than likely to be familiar with a member of the pea family. It's the third largest plant family that exists. Its typical seed pod is one way to identify pea family species. This family is also known by several other names, such as legume, bean and pulse family. The flowers are very decorative and colorful. Many plants in this family are consumed by people, such as peas and all beans species. Lots of insects visit the flowers for their nectar and pollen. Caterpillars eat the leaves.
