Wintergreen family

Wintergreen plants live up to their name, remaining green in the winter. This group used to be a separate family but since scientists began categorizing plants according to their genes, it turned out that wintergreens belong to the heath family. Wintergreens have one stalk erecting from a roset of leaves and containing a handful of flowers. The seed capsules contain numerous tiny seeds, which are only released in small portions during dry weather. The wind can carry these practically weightless seeds far away from the mother plant.
