Groningen wadden coast and hinterland

The north coast of Groningen borders the wadden region. However because it is very much attached to the mainland, its relationship to the wadden is very different than for the islands. Of course, there are also similarities. Its history is intertwined with that of the islands and its nature areas are influenced a lot by the sea conditions. Groningen has its own unique landscape elements, such as wierden. Every province has its own nature organization that owns nature areas. In Groningen, it is the Groninger Landschap.
