Landscape elements

A landscape is an area which can be viewed from one spot. Landscape elements are components that make the landscape what it is. Examples are: fields, ditches, a road, a church steeple, woods. Terpen, duck decoys and garden walls are examples of local landscape elements that are characteristic for the coastal region. Texel has †garden walls (tuinwallen) and drinking holes, North Groningen has old sea dikes and creeks. Zeeland has kolks and pools (created by water gushing through broken dikes).
