Sea regions

Areas at sea are classified according to depth: the deep sea, the continental plate and the coastal regions. However, sometimes marine areas can be classified geographically. For instance, the European seas are grouped into the northeast Atlantic coast, the North Sea region, the Baltic Sea region and the Mediterranean Sea. European seas are categorized as the (Northeast) Atlantic ocean, the North Sea region, the Baltic Sea region and the Mediterranean Sea. Regions from shallow to deep are coastal areas, continental plate and the deep sea. The deep sea is that part of the oceans that are deeper than 1000 meters and where no sunlight can penetrate.
