Are you taking the ferry to Texel? Then a visit to Ecomare is definitely worth your while: young seals in the sanctuary, large open sea aquaria and a unique nature museum. The ferry to Texel leaves every hour, and at busy times, it even goes every half hour. The crossing takes 20 minutes. There are various ways to get to Ecomare. The nicest way is by bike.<\/p>\n

Bicycling<\/h2>\n

You can rent a bike at the ferry harbor. The fastest route to Ecomare is along the Pontweg. Follow the signs to ‘De Koog’ till intersection 13 (Californiaweg). Turn left and follow the road till you see Ecomare (~ 2 km). A somewhat longer but more scenic route takes you through the woods. From the ferry, follow signs to ‘Den Hoorn’, bike from this village to the edge of the woods and follow the bike road signs (mushroom-shaped signposts).<\/p>\n

Bus<\/h2>\n

Lijn 28 from Connection departs from the ferry harbor and rides via Den Burg and De Koog to Ecomare.<\/p>\n

Car<\/h2>\n

From the ferry harbor, follow the signs to ‘De Koog’ till intersection 13 (Californiaweg).\u00a0Turn left and follow the road till you see Ecomare (~ 2 km). You can park everywhere on the island with the Texel e-sticker. This digital parking ticket is also valid at Ecomare’s parking lot. For more information, see\u00a0texelevignet.com<\/a>. Parking is free on Sundays.<\/p>\n
