Our animal keepers work closely together with their colleague of other rescue centres. If one of the centres has found a solution to a general problem, it is quickly passed on. The latest innovation comes from the rescue centre in Ostend, Belgium. Especially for sea and water birds they developed lightweight trays with a bottom of nets.

Many benefits

We already knew that net bottoms offer great advantages. We already had a number of trays with such a bottom. The poo falls through the holes and it’s much better for the legs than a hard bottom. The old trays however were extremely heavy. In Ostend, they sought and found a solution. These trays have the same net bottom, but the walls are made of lightweight plastic instead of wood. Their low weight makes them easy to move. The trays can also be partially folded, so they take up less space in storage. All in all, these trays are good for the birds and much better for the animal keepers.
